TRIBUNE. For philosopher Sophie Chassat, the index's good health is the sign of an "aggiornamento" in major French companies.

"All the financial analysts pointed to the record: in the first half of 2021, the CAC 40 recorded its biggest rise in over 20 years (+17.23%). After 18 months of a global health and socio-economic crisis, these results might suggest that nothing has changed in the structure of capitalism. However, the opposite is true: a profound reform is underway, placing meaning and contribution at the heart of strategies, and France's major companies have largely embarked on this aggiornamento."

"Far from taking us back 20 years, to a time when the shortcomings of ultra-financialized capitalism were working against general prosperity, the recent performance of the CAC 40 is very good news indeed. It too now has a clear raison d'être: to contribute to the common good."
