Citeo's raison d'être: "to produce, distribute and consume in a way that preserves our planet, its resources, biodiversity and climate".

WhileEcosystem was one of the first eco-organizations to adopt a raison d'être, Citeo is the first to become a company with a mission, with the adoption by its General Meeting of a raison d'être and a mission, together with social and environmental objectives.

A raison d'être enshrined in the company's bylaws and accompanied by a mission statement

Citeo's raison d 'être was adopted by the Annual General Meeting on November 17, 2020 and is now enshrined in the articles of association of this non-profit limited company:

" To respond to the ecological emergency and accelerate the necessary transformations, Citeo aims to engage and support economic players to produce, distribute and consume in a way that preserves our planet, its resources, biodiversity and climate. economic players to produce, distribute and consume in a way that preserves our planet, its resources, biodiversity and climate.. "

On the same day, the Annual General Meeting approved five social and environmental objectives, enabling Citeo to declare its status as a company with a mission

  1. " Reduce the environmental impact of Citeo customers' productss customers' products by anchoring the circular economy and eco-design in their practices and strategies;
  2. "Create the conditions to build the solutions of today and tomorrow that combine environmental and economic performance ;
  3. " Giving consumers the keys to reduce the environmental impact of their consumption;
  4. " Co-construct and promote Citeo's solutions and positionsfrom the local to the international level;
  5. " Cultivating the commitment of Citeo's teams as part of its mission.

A mission and raison d'être co-constructed with the involvement of employees, customers and stakeholders

In order to engage its customers, consumers and stakeholders, Citeo's raison d'être was co-constructed. Its formalization is the result of four workshops attended by some forty volunteer employees representing all of Citeo's businesses.

Citeo's raison d'être was then submitted to the operational executive committee and managers. It was then challenged at a workshop attended by the eco-organization's stakeholders.

Through ongoing dialogue with the Board of Directors and ComEx members, Citeo's raison d'être and its status as a company with a mission were adopted by the General Meeting on November 17, 2020.

As soon as Citeo adopted its raison d'être and mission statement, it set up a mission committee to monitor their implementation and produce a report to be included in the annual report. The mission committee includes a Citeo employee (as required by law) and representatives of its various stakeholder groups:

"We want to go further and faster to support the transition of our economy and our lifestyles."

The day after the Annual General Meeting, Citeo announced that it had adopted the status of mission company, presenting its raison d'être, its social and environmental objectives and the composition of the mission committee - finalized a few days later with the appointment of the employee member.

On the same November 18, Citeo CEO Jean Hornain published an opinion piece on LinkedIn affirming Citeo's determination "to act to contribute, on its own scale, to providing part of the solutions for a more circular world."
